On Saturday, September 21, 2013, The Boston Resident Training Institute, Homestart, Greater Boston Legal Services and the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute collaborated and hosted a Rent Training for Boston public housing residents. Rent has emerged as a ‘hot topic’ among Boston public housing residents, and the Institute was happy to work alongside some of Boston’s best advocates to help deliver an interactive, informative and empowering training! The topics covered ranged from rent calculation, earned income disregard, non-payment, and late charges — to name a few.

Special thanks to residents who participated from Amory, Archadale, Charlestown, Fairmount, Franklin Hill, Franklin Field Elderly & Family, Lower Mills, Mary Ellen McCormack, Orchard Gardens, Orient Heights, Pasciucco, Peabody-Englewood, Washington-Beech, Washington Manor!

If you weren’t able to attend, please don’t feel like you missed out. Below are links to download a copy of the 66-page Booklet that was distributed as well as 2 role plays that were performed, which reflect common interactions between residents, managers and advocates.
